What is INSPIRE Scholarship?

Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) scholarship scheme is made to promote the idea of scientific education and research among young graduate students who are a part of science and basic science streams.
All those 12th pass students who are in the first year of BSc/BS or integrated Msc/MS degree course are eligible to apply for scholarship.

What are the benefits of this scholarship?

Inspire scholarship offers benefits of INR 80000(60000 + 20000) per year till 5 years or till the completion of course,whichever is earlier. 


Which course students can get this scholarship?

Students who are studying regular courses in natural/ basic sciences three years B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons), four years B.S and five years integrated M.Sc./M.S. programs in any UGC recognized College/ University/ Institutions in India.

So what are the eligibility criteria in detail:

Part 1:


  • Student should have passed 12th class in 2019 only.

  • Student should have taken admission into the first year of a regular degree level course of  either BSC/BS or integrated MSC/MS.

  • Students must be between 17-22 years of age.

  • The candidate must be among the top 1% of the successful students in terms of aggregate marks in his/her state in 12 board exam. OR Students who have got under 10,000 rank in JEE(manis and advance)/AIPMT or NEET.


Part 2:

The applicants who are KVPY,(NTSE), Olympiad Medallists and Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) scholar and are pursuing courses in Natural/Basic Sciences leading to B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree are directly eligible.

Part 3:(Should have fulfilled all 4 eligibilities of Part1 or Part 2.)

Students who are admitted to (IISER), (NISER), Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Basic Sciences (DAE-CBS) at the University of Mumbai for pursuing courses in Natural/Basic Sciences leading to B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree are also eligible.


How to apply for the scholarship:

Applications for SHE INSPIRE scholarship are accepted only through the online portal.

Step 1:Register as a new user on the INSPIRE scholarship portal.



Step 2: You will get user ID and password on their registered email ID.

Step 3: log in to the INSPIRE scholarship portal using his/her username and password.

Step 4: fill in all the details

Step 5: scan and upload copies of all the required documents.

Step 6: click on the ‘Submit’ button to submit the application.

Documents Required:


1.Passport size photograph (Mandatory)

2.Community/Caste Certificate (only if the applicant belongs to OBC/SC/ST)

3.Eligibility Note/Advisory Note if provided by the State/Central Board (Not Mandatory)

4.Class XII Mark sheet (Mandatory)

5.Certificate specifying Rank or Award in JEE (Main)/ JEE (Advanced)/ NEET/     KVPY/JBNSTS/NTSE/International Olympic Medalists [Only if the candidate is eligible under this     criteria]

6.Class X Mark sheet or Certificate, for proof of Date of Birth. (Mandatory)

7.Endorsement Form/Certificate signed by the Principal of the College/Director of the I
nstitute/Registrar of the University. (Mandatory).


Important Dates:

The On-line application submission process shall commence from 1st November 2019 and shall end on 31stDecember 2019.

Renewal of scholarship:

It will be done if:


1.Student scores at least 60% marks or 7.0 GPA on a 10.0-point scale in the annual examinations each year (or 2 semesters).

2.Scholarship for the first and second  year combined i.e. INR 1,20,000 will be released only after evaluation of the performance based on the above criteria. 

Note:

The Scheme in its current format does not include courses in engineering,medicine, technology and other professional/technical /applied science courses.
